Join us for our Winter Retreat beginning Friday night February 23 and ending Sunday February 25. We will be traveling to Montgomery, Michigan.
The cost for the weekend is $40 and includes lodging, food, devotional materials and more! Sponsors are available for those who need help covering the retreat fee (no one should miss out due to $!!!).
What is it all about? Your Identity in Christ!
Where Do You Find Your Identity? Two of the main questions all of ask ourselves are: “Who am I?” and, “What am I here for?” This weekend we will consider answers to both of those questions. We live in a culture that values shallow, superficial, and temporary things. We are told lies every day about what's important in life and how to be important in life. This dramatically affects our view of our own identity and value. Sadly, we can't unhear the lies of the Enemy, but we can replace them with the truth from God's Word. We will learn that their identity is not dependent upon what others say about us, or even what we say about ourselves, but by what God says about us!
You are invited to join us at Hermitage Hills Estate, a Greek Revival mansion which graces 64 acres of rolling glacial till in rural south central Michigan. Hermitage Hills Estate was built in 1995 as a replica of President Andrew Jackson's Hermitage in Nashville with plenty of space for our entire group, four fireplaces, four ponds, hiking trails and more!
It is a tradition at Active Christians Today UToledo to use the time of Lent during Spring Semester to deepen our relationship with God and focus on discipleship and spiritual growth.
Our Lent Challenge has two parts:
1. Fast and pray one day each week from sunup to sundown. The days will grow longer as we approach Easter making this fast more of a challenge each week.
2. Complete the YouVersion 40-day devotion. This year we are going through the devotion "Meditating on Easter" which you can find HERE.
The goal of our one day a week fasting and praying and daily devotion is to draw nearer to God’s word and purpose for our lives. This kind of constructive focus helps to both spiritual and physically cleanse the earthly temple God has given us.
There are other ways to take part in our Lent observance. How will you take part in our ACT UT observance of Lent this year?
Saint Patrick's Day is one of the biggest bar and party nights at Bowling Green State University. On Saturday, March 15 from 10 PM to 1 AM, ACT UToledo and ACT BG will join forces again to reach out to the thousands of students pass by the front of ACT BG (612 E Wooster Bowling Green).
Rides from the ACT UToledo (2018 Bretton Place Toledo 43606) will be available on Saturday night for those who would like to join in the fun! Message us for details.
What do we have planned? Hot "PADDY CAKES", delicious Paddy Day snacks, indoor and outdoor games, music, and more! We really do believe everyone really needs to feel loved. God called St Patrick back to the Irish who had enslaved him years earlier. Patrick obeyed God and Ireland was never the same! We want to love our BG neighborhood like Patrick loved his neighborhood, with words and action.
At our PADDY PARTY Headquarters (612 E Wooster Bowling Green) we will be serving up some deliciously hot "PADDY CAKES" - Green Pancakes as well as the plain boring kinds for those creeped out by green!
Jesus calls us to be servants and one of the ways we can show His love for all is through giving. No judging, no condemnation... just the opportunity to touch lives and plant seeds for the Kingdom.
Wednesday nights are busy at the ACT House (2018 Bretton Place Toledo 43606)! We begin with our Free Dinner at 5:30 PM. If class or your job is off later, no worries! We'll save some for you!
We prepare a special and sometimes unique meal each Wednesday. We serve everything from the typical (pizza, tacos) to the off-beat (breakfast for dinner, cereal). We will also grill out when possible including everything from pork chops to hot dogs and burgers!
Bible Study begins at 7:00 PM. Are you hungry to grow in your faith? We're the place to be on Wednesday nights! We dive in deep to Scripture to discover what God has to say to us.
Come join us!
